Research Design and Methodology - REMS 5103
Before taking this course, I had very little experience with large scale research. It was very interesting to learn about the differences in the various qualitative and quantitative methods and the process of choosing the most appropriate and effective one for particular studies.
Throughout the semester, as each topic was introduced, we were tasked with designing a research study of our own on a topic relevant to our current or future careers. This would follow the research process from problem identification to the proposal to the Institutional Review Board (IRB). This process was very beneficial in that it both allowed me to put into practice the skills I was learning, and it also kept me from feeling overwhelmed with this large task.
Due to the knowledge gained in this class, I am much more aware of the validity and reliability of research data that I come across in both my career and daily life.
Below you will find my research proposal for the effects that game-based learning has on the motivation level and cognitive ability of students.
