Mobile Learning
I found the topics covered in this class extremely interesting and relevant. Working with PK-12 students I have experienced the rise in mobile technology use and dependence that our students have developed. Many students as young as second grade are coming to school with smartphones and have their own laptop or tablet at home. Learning ways to leverage this interest for the benefit of education is of vital importance. The concepts I learned in this course have already proven very valuable to me, as well as the teachers and students I serve.
The project that stood out the most for me was getting the chance to work with my group to develop a mobile app based around curricular topic. We chose to focus on middle level Geography because it was directly beneficial to several members of the group. Through the use of AppMakr, we were able to connect several mobile learning resources such as Blogger, YouTube, Twitter, Quizlet, and more. This will allow the students direct access to all classroom materials in a format that is engaging, comprehensive and familiar to them.
